Known as one of the most beloved musicals in Broadway history, Miss Saigon was a phenomenon when it first premiered in London in the late 1980s. It was in 1991 that the play came over to Manhattan, and American audiences were dazzled by the touching love story between an American solider and Vietnamese woman. The iconic logo for the show was seen everywhere in New York during that time, from billboards to t-shirts. Created by the same team who conceived of Les Miserables, the show seemed destined to become a hit from the get-go. Making a star out of its lead Lea Salonga, Miss Saigon will always hold a special place in the hearts of theatergoers.
Perhaps this is why the announcement of a Miss Saigon revival has a lot of people very excited. With the complete cast now in place now, full rehearsals will be able to start immediately. Eva Noblezada will take the lead as Kim, while Jon Jon Briones will play the engineer and the role of Chris will be played by Alistair Brammer. Broadway audiences will undoubtedly be thrilled to see this incredibly talented cast take the stage, and they’ll be able to do so starting on March 23 at the Broadway Theatre. With a run that will last into January of next year, Miss Saigon will then go on the road so that audiences all around the country can enjoy it. A new generation will be exposed to this incredible, Tony Award-winning musical.
