Popular Television channel Telemundo is set to move forward with its quiet yet bold distribution deal for one of its leading shows Guerra de Ídolos’ soundtrack.
Telemundo, the popular international channel known for its highly captivating novella oriented dramatic series along with over the top game shows, is now looking to capitalize on the music industry , selling one of its most acclaimed TV series’ soundtrack to music and Telemundo lovers alike, hoping to not only gain exposure, but to profit on the show’s popularity and niche audience.
Music from Telemundo’s new show Guerra de Ídolos (War of Idols), will be available for purchase on the likes of iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Pandora, Amazon Music and iHeart Radio, featuring a whopping 30 tracks all produced from the series .
Songs like “Una y Otra Vez,” and “Tequila Pa’la Razón.” are all performed by the cast. This isn’t the first time a popular TV series has dabbled into the music industry as it mimics the strategy that the hit Fox show Glee executed when, it released its music in a similar fashion. With star actors María León and Alberto Guerra along with a Latin Grammy Award winning Team backed by producers Andrés Saavedra, Yoel Henríquez and Edgar Barrera, the new strategy of production lays in the hopes that the appeal of the U.S Hispanic demographic will translate into sales spanning across the genres of pop and country.
This strategy by Telemudo dates back to 2016 where the channel created an initiative to produce more assets in their music category, naming the initiative the Mario Ruiz SVP of Music and Entertainment Projects.
Thus far Telemundo has kept the initial download count and purchase rate under wraps, but it’s said that the popular channel is staying on top on top of their musical release to document its progress. To date the track Tequila Pa’la Razón” has appeared at No. 86 on iTunes.
