Andy Wirth was recently named as the Chairman and President of the Reno-Tahoe Regional Air Service Corporation (RASC). Wirth, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings, is also the Chairman of the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustees. As the leader of RASC, Wirth will be working to promote air service into the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and identify prospects for additional flights.
Since taking over as the CEO of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings in 2010, Wirth put tremendous effort revitalizing his resort. The changes were successful according to Wirth, who cites that Squaw Valley moved from being in the bottom 20 percent of ski resorts into the top 20 percent in a year in the category of customer satisfaction. In 2011, Wirth led the effort to acquire Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, and he is now the President and CEO of both resorts.
In addition to his business endeavors, Andy Wirth is also heavily involved with environmental and community service organizations in Lake Tahoe. One of these endeavors is his Ironman team, Wounded Warrior Support, which was birthed to honor Navy SEALs by raising money for the Navy Seal Foundation.
According to SteamBoatToday, Andy Wirth is also a supporter of other organizations such as the Humane Society of Tahoe Truckee, The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation Community House, the Truckee River Watershed Council, and others. Additionally, he has served as a leader and board member with other organizations such as the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, the Yampa Valley Regional Airport Advisory Board, the and North Routt Fire Protection District.
Wirth has been acknowledged for both his service to the community and his professional success. Among the awards that he has received are the Chairman’s Outstanding Service Award from the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustees, the Steamboat Springs Business Leader of the Year Award, and the Community Five Award. He was also recognized by the Disabled Sports USA as a Citizen of the Year.
